Historic Artist’s Home

Built as the home of Woodstock artist Jo Cantine, the house and magnificent setting reflect the artist’s creativity and appreciation of nature. Great windows and doors were abundantly placed to capture the shimmering light and natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. Cantine lived to be 94 and enjoyed a successful career, with shows at prestigious New York City galleries and museums, and a painting in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Several of her luminous paintings, and her hand-painted furniture are displayed in the common room and bedrooms of the bed and breakfast. The Woodstock Country Inn was established in 1987. Renovations were made with a desire to allow for maximum privacy and comfort for guests, while maintaining the charm and ambiance of a 19th Century farmhouse.

The heated in-ground pool is set in a wildflower meadow overlooking mountain views. The pool is usually (weather-dependent) open from mid-May until mid-September, but can not be heated if the nighttime temps fall below 60 degrees. The pool uses a salt water filtration system, eliminating the need for chlorine or any other harsh chemicals. Adirondack chairs and hammocks are strategically placed for optimum relaxation and meditation.

Away From It All, Close To Everything

The Inn is ideally located only 2 miles from the shops, galleries and music of Woodstock, a short hike to Cooper Lake, and less than a mile to the Bear Cafe andBearsville Theater. Just minutes away from world-famous Levon Helm Midnight Rambles. Hiking and cross-country ski trails, Woodstock Farmer’s Market, antique shops, and fabulous restaurants are all only minutes away. “When friends ask me where to stay in Woodstock, I always recommend the Woodstock Country Inn. This charming b&b is perfect for a country retreat, a romantic getaway…and the ideal location as a base to explore the many activities the Hudson Valley has to offer.”
